How We Work
Turning Our Vision Into Reality
In 2025, recognizing the significant challenges our community was facing due to the unprecedented changes to public policy affecting older adults and the organizations that support them, Archstone Foundation reexamined our goals and grantmaking priorities.
To develop a responsive approach to the current environment, we conducted careful analysis of the evolving funding and political landscape. We convened a task force of staff members, Board members, and community leaders to think deeply about how we could—and should— respond most effectively to this rapidly changing environment. We engaged older adults, stakeholders, and leaders in the field to guide our strengthened approach.
This process, over several months, led us to new ways of defining our work in the service of our goal: partnering with communities to catalyze equitable change in health and social systems. We have two strategic aims for achieving this: 1) mobilizing communities and amplifying older adult voices, and 2) building the adaptability of organizations serving older adults.
We believe this approach will help make our communities more resilient in the face of today’s many challenges and more in charge of their own futures. The graphic below outlines our vision and strategy.
Working Together to Fulfill Our Mission
We also believe that health and social care systems must be reimagined to meet the needs of all older adults and that strategic partnerships are essential to advancing our aims. We are eager to engage in new thought partnerships, knowledge exchanges, and learning collaboratives. We will continue to conduct deep and meaningful conversations with elected and appointed state and local officials, prominent academics, and leaders of community-based organizations who can help us refine and implement our strategy.
