Carly Roman is a fifth-year doctoral candidate at the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. She received her BA in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016. Her research is supported by the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship and focuses on understanding intergenerational connections and how they benefit older adults.

In addition to her research, Carly is a leader in intergenerational programming, connecting older and younger individuals through GlamourGals—a national organization in which students provide free makeovers and manicures to older adults living in assisted and continuing care communities—and the USC Student Gerontology Association's Intergenerational Phone Chain that connects USC gerontology students with older adults to help alleviate loneliness. Carly's research skills, gerontological expertise, and program experiences lend themselves well to her responsibilities as an intern for Archstone Foundation in Fall 2020.

In her free time, Carly enjoys playing soccer and the ukulele. She also enjoys cooking and exploring new places—as a native New Yorker, Carly hopes to explore as many west coast national parks as possible during her final year in the doctoral program.
