Depression in late life is both common and undertreated, even as the number of older adults living with mental health and substance use challenges continues to grow. From 2023–2024, Archstone Foundation partnered with the University of Washington to support a learning collaborative bringing together geriatric psychiatry fellows and fellowship directors from leading West Coast academic institutions to propose new strategies to prepare clinicians to care for older adults.
The collaborative recognized persistent workforce shortages and barriers to geriatric psychiatry training and developed a proposal for a concentrated training model designed to deliver enhanced, high-quality preparation in geriatric psychiatry. Click on the link below to read about this work.
