Leadership Transition: CEO Christopher Langston Departing

Archstone Foundation will say goodbye to president and CEO Christopher A. Langston, PhD, who will be leaving effective June 30. As the Foundation’s second president, Dr. Langston led the development of a new strategic plan that continues to guide the Foundation’s grantmaking in support of its mission to improve the health and well-being of older Californians and their caregivers. The board of directors thanks him for his service, dedication, and vision.

“It has been an honor to serve at Archstone Foundation, and I am grateful for the opportunity and to the board and staff for all of their support,” said Langston. “I am enormously proud of the progress we made together. This transition will allow me to focus on significant family caregiving responsibilities, secure in the knowledge that Archstone Foundation will continue the critically needed work we have started.”

Heather M. Young, PhD, RN, board chair, stated, “Christopher Langston is a highly respected thought leader in policy and programs for older adults. He helped Archstone establish a set of contemporary priorities and a clear plan to guide our work. Our board appreciates his many contributions and wishes him all the best in his next chapter.”

John Feather, PhD, member of the Archstone board and former CEO of Grantmakers In Aging and Director of the AARP Andrus Foundation, will serve as interim CEO. The Foundation will soon launch a national search for its next leader.
