Archstone Foundation is pleased to be a part of a coalition of leading California philanthropies and non-profit organizations launching Age Well CA, a statewide initiative united behind a shared vision to strengthen support for Californians as they age.
Age Well CA has released the results of a new poll highlighting the urgent need for action to support policies that help Californians age well in their communities. The poll, commissioned by the Age Well CA partnership of philanthropies and non-profit organizations, finds 89% of voters want California's governor to prioritize planning for the state’s growing older adult population. Large majorities support increasing access to long-term services and supports (LTSS) to enable older adults and people with disabilities to age well.
The poll also offers insights into just how many Californians are already wrestling with challenges, as existing programs struggle to keep up with increasing demand:
75% of respondents say their region has “serious problems” providing care to older adults
50% say they are already providing care or assistance to an older relative
Only 16% of Californians say they are “highly confident” they will have the financial resources they need to pay for long-term care
Age Well CA has developed a shortlist of policy priorities to guide Governor-elect Becerra in improving access to care for millions of Californians — by securing sustainable revenue for caregiving, expanding coverage to middle-income residents struggling to keep up with the rising cost of care, and increasing state support for paid and family caregivers.
More than 50 organizations have already added their support for the Age Well CA Policy Priorities, with more signing on every day. See the full list of supporters here.
