Original post (1/10/25)
Joining with partners and colleagues throughout the state, the Board and staff of Archstone Foundation want to express our deepest sympathies to all those who have been affected by the horrific wildfires still burning in the Los Angeles area. The loss of life and property is devastating.
We encourage everyone to respect the evacuation orders that are in place. We hope you, your families, and friends remain safe. For those who need immediate help or are interested in providing support to those displaced by this disaster, we’d also like to share the 2025 Philanthropy California Disaster Response page from Philanthropy California, an alliance of Northern California Grantmakers, Southern California Grantmakers, and Catalyst of San Diego and Imperial Counties. This page provides helpful resources and a carefully vetted list of California Response Funds that accept donations.
At Archstone Foundation, our staff will be reaching out to grantees and partners throughout Southern California to understand the fires’ impact on older adults, people living with disabilities, caregivers, and their families, especially those from communities that have faced unfair and unjust treatment and may be disproportionately affected by natural disasters like these. While we will seek to understand how we can best serve as a resource in the current emergency, we understand that full recovery will require a sustained and long-term investment. Archstone Foundation remains dedicated to serving as a partner in the work needed to help older people and to rebuild our communities.
