Archstone Foundation is proud to be a supporter of Best Practice Caregiving, a new online tool from The Family Caregiver Alliance, The Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging and the Gerontological Society of America. Best Practice Caregiving helps healthcare and community-based organizations, as well as funders and policy makers, to discover and share high quality programs for caregivers.

Caregiving for a person with dementia can be especially challenging—in fact, dementia caregivers are twice as likely as other caregivers to report adverse effects of caregiving on their physical and emotional health, financial situation, and personal relationships. Studies show that well designed support programs for caregivers and individuals with dementia can increase skill levels, coping strategies and well-being.

Two upcoming webinars will teach participants how to use this comprehensive database to find dementia caregiving programs that meet the needs of their clientele and match their organization’s focus and resources:

On January 28 at 11am PST, David M. Bass, PhD, will provide an introduction to the database, as part of the National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center webinar series. David is Senior Vice President at Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging, one of the developers of Best Practice Caregiving. More information and registration.

On February 5 from 10-11am PST, there will be a more in-depth webinar featuring a hands-on, guided tour of the database. This will be led by David in partnership with Kathy Kelly, Executive Director at Family Caregiver Alliance, another of the developers of Best Practice Caregiving. The 60-minute agenda includes a walk-through of the site and a deep dive into its features and functions. Reserve your spot today.
