How We Work

Working Together to Fulfill Our Mission

With Archstone Foundation’s new strategic direction, we have adopted a new approach to grantmaking. Unless you are responding to a specific open RFP (e.g., our Capacity Building RFP), our grantmaking will begin with a conversation with a program staff member about the work you are doing, or wish to do, to improve the health and well-being of older Californians.

Due to our limited funds, we will only be funding work that fits with our strategies of integrating social care into the delivery of health care through the Three Ts: Teams, Training, and Technology. We are most interested in ideas that have the potential to change care state-wide and that address health disparities and inequities.

We are looking for your best ideas about how, together, we can change health and social care systems, policies, and practices needed to improve the health and well-being of all older Californians and their caregivers.

To learn more about our grantmaking priorities we invite you to watch our webinar, "Archstone Foundation: Three Ts in Action."

Two-Page Brief

If you have been invited by the Foundation to submit a two-page brief and have been provided a submission link to our grants portal, you will need to provide the following:

  1. Proposed concept;
  2. Analysis of the problem facing older Californians and their caregivers;
  3. Identified solution;
  4. Implementation plans; and
  5. Initial cost estimate and funding needed.

Letters of Inquiry (LOI)

Currently, LOIs are specific to Capacity Building (CB) grants and commence with the release of a Capacity Building RFP inviting nonprofits to submit an LOI through the Foundation's online portal.

Following the review of submitted LOIs, Archstone Foundation staff will notify organizations that have been selected to submit a Full Proposal.
